About ACEF
The Atlantic City Education Foundation (ACFE) was founded in 1987 by a group of educators and community leaders committed to improving the quality of education for Atlantic City’s student population.

Years of history and education
The nonprofit organization addresses the challenges faced by an urban school district with high dropout rates, low test scores, and a mobile student population.
ACEF collaborates with the Atlantic City School District to identify and mobilize resources for programs that benefit children and young adults, helping them to become productive workers, solid citizens, and lifelong learners. Their goal is to provide sound educational experiences and promote the overall wellbeing of Atlantic City’s children.
ACEF’s programs focus on raising funds to support teachers and graduating high school seniors:
- Teacher Mini-Grants, encourages teachers to create social justice programs for students to enhance student learning. These grants have been offered since 1987. Since 1996, we have awarded over 300 grants that have covered all aspects of our children’s education – kindergarten through high school.
- Higher Education Scholarship Program motivates students to complete high school and seek learning at a post-secondary level. Established in 1996, over 200 students have since benefited from this program.
- Recognition Luncheon, held annually in the spring, recognizes the contributions of teachers, educational leaders, staff, and other community members who help our children succeed. Scholarship recipients are invited to the luncheon to receive recognition of their accomplishments.
- ACEF Golf Outing is held annually and is open to school staff and community members alike to enjoy a day of fun and feasting in support of the Foundation.
We have held fast to our mission to enhance the educational and cultural opportunities and experiences of children in the Atlantic City Schools and to support the school district. We plan to continue our support for years to come – our children are worth it!
